Diesel quality testing involves the use of a hydrometer to test the density of a diesel to ascertain if it’s a pure diesel or adulterated one.
It is now a common occurrence for people to supply products of bunkery otherwise known as kpofire to their unsuspecting clients in the name of pure diesel. Some even go as far as mixing their diesel with other liquids such as; water, kerosene, and gasoline.
Since, anyone can mix any liquid and arrive at a color that looks like the color of a pure diesel, it is therefore deceptive to ascertain the quality of a diesel by its mere color. This is where a hydrometer comes in. A hydrometer is a pen like substance that is dipped inside an open cylindrical tube numbered between 80.0 – 90.0.
What is the required density?
Upon dipping the hydrometer inside the tube, if the up end of the hydrometer ranges between 83.0 to 86.0 then the diesel quality is okay and is recommended to buy. But if otherwise – maybe above or below the above range, then it is not a good diesel and should be avoided at all costs because it has the potential to knock an engine.
We at Bruin Energy Resources LTD run such diesel quality testing free of charge to help guide consumers make the right choice in there purchase of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel).
